JEREMY COX: I have always been interested in art since I was a little kid. I started out after high school at Cypress College and then moved on to Cal State Fullerton where I earned by Bachelors of Fine Art Degree in Graphic Design. Growing up skating, surfing and snowboarding, I knew right away that I wanted to pursue a graphic design career in the action sports industry. It was a very difficult process to land my first job in this industry. After a few interviews I landed my first real job at a surf apparel company designing T-shirts for $10.00 an hour.(You have to start somewhere.)

I then ventured on to a bike/skate/snow helmet manufacturer, designing helmets, shooting product, creating packaging, designing catalogs and magazine ads. I then became the team manager of 4 professional BMX riders, catering to all of their needs. Soon after that, this company became a distributor and started distributing 9 different lines from bike accessories to bicycle frames . I then became the Art Director for all nine lines. One great thing about my experience with this company was that I was able to create my own line of graphics for helmets and bicycle seats called JC Designs(Designer Series). During my employment there I was shooting over 1000 products and putting the catalogs together in short periods of time and creating all of the ads and packaging by myself. As hectic as things were during this time I started doing some freelance for a few other companies, which is leading me to where I am today. (You will never be recognized if you don't put yourself out there. )

Wanting to try some new experiences I stepped into the motorcycle apparel industry. This is a very different transition from the bicycle market, people actually have money to spend because the demographic is a lot older. So here I am again creating T-shirt designs, shooting product , designing catalogs , and creating ads, this is what I enjoy and I'm lucky enough to work in an industry where people can appreciate creativity.

The toy industry of all places is the last place i thought I would end up because of my extensive experience in the action sports industry. They wanted someone who as on the edgy side to create a new toy line. I took on the lead designer role and created all packaging ,graphics for the toys, posters, magazine ads, and even trade show booth graphics. This job was very fast paced and the hours worked were long, but it was great! To express yourself through design is amazing.

At the age of 32 I feel that I am a well rounded designer that has seen a lot of different aspects of the action sports and toy industry. Being creative is what I do and how I live.
